The outrageously funny comedy THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA McBRIDE, will open Dezart Performs’ 10th Season on November 3rd. The show will run on two consecutive weekends for evening and matinee performances November 3rd – 5th as well as November 10th – 12th.

Written by Matthew Lopez, THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA McBRIDE premiered Off-Broadway in 2015 and drew critical raves from The New York Times, naming it a Critics Pick.

“We specifically selected this brilliant and entertaining play to coincide with Pride Weekend and is sure to be a crowd pleaser – with 15 songs and lots of dancing,” stated Michael Shaw, Artistic Director of Dezart Performs. “Each opening night performance of our 10th season will include an opening night reception for our audience.”

The nonprofit theater company will present eight performances (November 3-12) of THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA McBRIDE, a heartwarming gender-bending comedy which is an official Pride Week event.

The play centers on the main character, Casey, an Elvis impersonator in a run-down, small-town Florida bar. He’s young, broke and his wife is going to have a baby. But to make matters even more desperate, he’s fired from his gig and the bar owner brings in a B-level drag show to replace him. Casey finds that he has a whole lot to learn about show business and himself. THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA McBRIDE was a New York Times Critic’s Pick: “A stitch-in-your-side new comedy… full of sass and good spirits!”

The role of Casey is played by Sean Timothy Brown who returns to Dezart Performs' stage in THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE after performing in Dezart Performs’ critically-acclaimed production of CLYBOURNE PARK last winter. Brown began his acting under the tutelage of Rosemary Mallett at Palm Springs High School and still lives in Palm Springs with his wife, Jen and their baby daughter, Ella. Other cast members include: Michael Mullen as Tracy; Hanz Enyeart as Rexy; Brianna Maloney as Casey’s wife, Jo; and Chet Cole as Eddie
