The Desert Rose Playhouse, the Coachella Valley’s LGBTQ+ Stage Company, will present TIMES SQUARE ANGEL by Charles Busch, A Musical Pastiche, opening Friday, November 24, 2017, for a four-week run. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2 PM, through December 17, 2017.
Night Club star, Irish O’Flanagan, a self-centered, penny-pinching, night club singer, is visited by her guardian angel Albert and we are off on a whirlwind tour of Irish's life with laughs, songs, and heart-warming moments. Busch’s show combines elements of A Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life with his favorite 1940’s movies and various musical numbers of the season. Busch's plays THE DIVINE SISTER and VAMPIRE LESBIANS OF SODOM/COMA are remembered by Desert Rose Playhouse audiences from their fun-filled and exotic performances on our stage.
Award-winning DRP company member Loren Freeman stars as Irish with DRP Artistic Associate Robbie Wayne playing Albert and choreographing the musical numbers. The cast includes DRP veterans Melanie Blue, Cat Lyn Day, Terry Huber, Michael Pacas, and Kam Sisco. Actors James Owens, Karen Schmitt, and Ian Tang make their DRP debuts. Founding Artistic Director Jim Strait directs and designs the production. Joel Baker is the Musical Director. Mark Demry is the Costumer and award-winner Toni Molano designs the wigs. The legendary Phil Murphy is designing the lights for his 49th DRP Production!
The Desert Rose Playhouse is a project of Desert Rose Productions, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. TIME SQUARE ANGEL continues Desert Rose Productions’ mission to produce and present literate, relevant and entertaining plays and musicals for LGBTQ and Gay-Friendly theatregoers in the Coachella Valley.
