The L-Fund is offering the community Financial Seminars for lesbians and allies to learn and discuss personal finances with the third in a three-part financial planning seminar and social series, on Tuesday, October 25 from 6–7:30 pm at The Flannery Exchange in Palm Springs. Seminar Three is titled “Plan for the future: How an estate plan helps put you in control,” about caring for the people you love even after you’re gone, leaving behind a lasting meaningful legacy, and managing estate tax burden for both you and your heirs. Palm Springs International Airport Job Fair
Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) is holding a Job Fair to help tenants fill more than 60 open positions on Tuesday, October 25 from 10 am–4 pm at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The airport is preparing for the upcoming tourist season, which PSP is expecting to be the busiest on record. They are looking to fill a variety of positions ranging from airlines to restaurants, and the Bob Hope USO is even looking for volunteers. The airport requests that applicants bring plenty of resumes with them as several companies will offer on-the-spot interviews. More info

Tim Burton Film Retrospective: The Nightmare Before Christmas
Experience Tim Burton’s early classics on the largest screen in the Coachella Valley at the Historic Camelot Theatre with their PS Rewinds series. On Thursday, October 27 at 8pm, it’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). This a stop-motion animated musical dark fantasy film was directed by Henry Selick and produced and conceived by Tim Burton. Jose Sarria: Panel Discussion Thursday
On Thursday, October 27 from 6–7:30 pm, a member of the Jose Sarria Foundation will be in conversation with a special guest for a panel discussion where a special exhibit of Jose Sarria: Legendary Drag Queen and LGBTQ+ Activist (1922–2013) is on display at the Welwood Murray Memorial Library in the main room through December 15. Jose Sarria was a legend of the San Francisco drag scene. Out and Latino, Sarria dedicated his life to fight for LGBTQ+ rights and even ran as the country’s first known openly gay candidate for public office. The exhibit is open daily at the museum from 10 am to 6 pm, and through 8 pm on Thursdays. More info

The Palm Springs Leather Order of the Desert presents Palm Springs Leather Pride 2022 this Thursday–Sunday from October 27–30. This year’s theme is Eruption: Meat ‘n Heat and attendees choose from the Explosion or Discharge packages to gain admission to multiple pool parties, parking lot cruise parties and vendor mart, cigar social, Mr. Palm Springs Leather competition, Victory Dance, the closing party and celebration at host Hotel Zoso. Packages also include the Leather Pride 2022 t-Shirt and pin. Dezart Performs presents Choir Boy, running from October 28–November 6. This 2019 Tony-nominated drama is a moving story of sexuality, race, hope, gospel music, and a young gay man finding his voice. What happens when young student Pharus does not fit the mold for a typical “Drew man” at the at Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys? Pharus is different from his peers, and his effeminate nature constantly sets him apart. Sordid Lives Benefit Screening
The Del Shores Foundation presents a one-night-only 22nd anniversary benefit screening of the original Sordid Lives film where it all began at the Camelot Theatres at the Palm Springs Cultural Center on Saturday, October 29 at 7:30 pm. The evening will be hosted by creator Del Shores and Del Shores Foundation Program Director Emerson Collins with appearances by original film cast members Rosemary Alexander, Newell Alexander, and Ann Walker. Join DAP Health as the 2022 Desert AIDS Walk ‘Walk, Out Loud’ takes place on Saturday, October 29 from 7:30 am–1 pm. 18th Annual Greater Palm Springs Summit
The Coachella Valley Economic Partnership (CVEP) 18th annual Greater Palm Springs Summit will take place on Monday, October 31 from 9–11 am at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert. Traditionally this event draws more than 800 of the region’s business, civic, and education leaders. It’s an excellent and rare opportunity to hear from some of the area’s leaders, influencers, and decision-makers. This year’s theme is “Emergence.” The morning event will reveal the annual economic report and forecast, and also showcase our region’s business diversification strategies and goals to mobilize a long-term sustainable effort to elevate the economy of the Coachella Valley.
