Onย Saturday, April 7thย the Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter will honor lifelong animal activist and award-winning actress, Tippi Hedren as their Friend for Life Award recipient.ย
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have the opportunity to honor Ms. Hedren for her dedication to animal welfare. Our Faux Fur Ball celebration will be all the more meaningful by having a true animal advocate receiving our Friend for Life award,” said Charlie Roddy, Director of Development.
Forever famous for her Golden Globe winning performance in the classic Hitchcock filmย The Birdsย in 1963 and her starring role in another Hitchcock dramaย Marnieย in 1964, Tippi Hedren has garnered worldwide fame for these and numerous other films, as well as for her long-term passion for animal welfare.
Her strong commitment to animal rescue began in 1969 while she was shooting two films in Africa and was introduced to the plight of African lions. In an attempt to raise awareness for wildlife, she spent nearly eleven years bringingย Roarย (1981) to the screen. She started her own non-profit organization, the Roar Foundation in 1983 to supportย The Shambala Preserveย near Acton, California, an 80-acre wildlife habitat which enables her to continue her work in the care and preservation of lions and tigers.ย
The festive evening will also feature KMIR’s Bryan Gallo andย Thaliaย Hayden, along with Auctioneer, Bella Da Ball. Guests will enjoy a variety ofย hors d’oeuvreย tastings, generously provided by some of the best restaurants and chefs in town, craft cocktails, a Silent Auction, Live Auction and a dance after-party.
