On Saturday, April 7th the Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter will honor lifelong animal activist and award-winning actress, Tippi Hedren as their Friend for Life Award recipient.

"We couldn't be more pleased to have the opportunity to honor Ms. Hedren for her dedication to animal welfare. Our Faux Fur Ball celebration will be all the more meaningful by having a true animal advocate receiving our Friend for Life award," said Charlie Roddy, Director of Development.

Forever famous for her Golden Globe winning performance in the classic Hitchcock film The Birds in 1963 and her starring role in another Hitchcock drama Marnie in 1964, Tippi Hedren has garnered worldwide fame for these and numerous other films, as well as for her long-term passion for animal welfare.

Her strong commitment to animal rescue began in 1969 while she was shooting two films in Africa and was introduced to the plight of African lions. In an attempt to raise awareness for wildlife, she spent nearly eleven years bringing Roar (1981) to the screen. She started her own non-profit organization, the Roar Foundation in 1983 to support The Shambala Preserve near Acton, California, an 80-acre wildlife habitat which enables her to continue her work in the care and preservation of lions and tigers.

The festive evening will also feature KMIR's Bryan Gallo and Thalia Hayden, along with Auctioneer, Bella Da Ball. Guests will enjoy a variety of hors d'oeuvre tastings, generously provided by some of the best restaurants and chefs in town, craft cocktails, a Silent Auction, Live Auction and a dance after-party.

Individual tickets are on-sale now here for $150 per person. To reserve a table for 10 or more, or to learn about open sponsorship opportunities, contact Director of Development, Charlie Roddy at (760) 832-6231 or croddy@psanimalshelter.org
