Palm Springs City Councilmember Geoff Kors and Mr. Monopoly unveiled the new Palm Springs Edition of MONOPOLY on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Palm Springs Art Musuem. Members of the media and invited guests were welcomed to shake the dice and see which of their favorite locations around town were immortalized as coveted real estate on the world’s most popular game.

Top Trumps USA Inc, manufacturers of the official Palm Springs edition of MONOPOLY under license from Hasbro, unveiled the 24 iconic locations that truly emulate all of the things that make Palm Springs like no place else. Cinema Diverse and the Palm Springs LGBTQ Film Festival were choosen to be one the properties on the Monopoly Palm Springs game, making it the first LGBTQ property to be featured on a city editon of Monopoly. The new Palm Springs Monopoly game also features customized ‘Community Chest’ and ‘Chance’ playing cards that making the entire game truly a Palm Springs experience.

Jennifer Tripsea, sales executive from Top Trumps said: “Diversity and inclusion are very important to Top Trumps and especially to the community and City of Palm Springs which had the first all-LGBTQ city council in the nation. The history of Palm Springs as the desert’s playground to the stars and the mission of Cinema Diverse to advance and strengthen the LGBTQ community through film felt like a perfect fit for the Palm Springs edition of Monopoly. We are proud to have Cinema Diverse be the first LGBTQ property on a city edition of Monopoly.”

The Palm Springs Cultural Center – the non-profit organization that produces the film festival was also featured on the board as well as the Original Certified Farmers Market in the Coachella Valley. Megan Goehring, the General Manager of the Certified Farmers Markets quipped, “A tried-and-true expression used at the Markets is that CFM customers are always winners at our tables, and it’s fun that the saying is now accurate in a new context.
