McCallum Theatre Education is excited to announce the 2018 OPEN CALL TALENT PROJECT! Don’t miss one of the most popular events in the valley April 19-21. Open Call presents the Coachella Valley’s best vocalists, dancers, and instrumentalists of all ages in an exciting talent competition, with finalists appearing on stage in four performances. This annual sell-out event is an audience favorite and fun for the entire family.
This year’s Open Call will feature close to 100 community members ages 12-79. A complete list of 2018 finalists can be viewed here. More information on the exciting talent that will be presented in the 20th anniversary celebration of Open Call will be released soon. “Open Call is an important project and our goal is to produce an engaging show that highlights the value of the performing arts and inspires a greater sense of community valley-wide,” says Open Call producer and McCallum’s Director of Education, Kajsa Thuresson-Frary. “It’s deeply rewarding to be in a position to share our local talent with the larger community and we’re thankful for the support we enjoy from our generous sponsors and audience members alike.”
Thursday and Friday evening and Saturday matinee audience members vote for their favorite act. The winners will be announced at Saturday evening’s final performance. Cash prizes will be awarded to the grand prize ($1500), 2nd place ($750) and audience choice ($750) award winners. All Open Call finalists will receive a cash stipend.
All four performances are open to the public. For the 7PM performances on Thursday, April 19 and Friday, April 20 and the 2PM performance on Saturday, April 21 tickets are $12, $17, $27, $37 with a special ticket price of $12 for children 12 and under.
