Gay Desert Guide’s Man Crush Monday for March 15, 2021 is David White.
David relocated from Las Vegas to Palm Springs in 2013 when he was hired by the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce. Not knowing anyone here, it wasn’t long until David started making friends and building a network when he threw himself into the middle of the Palm Springs social scene. David credits Wang’s in the Desert as the first establishment he’d frequent. Now, it’s safe to say, everyone knows David… or it won’t be long until they do.
Prior to the COVID pandemic, David hosted the weekly Palm Springs Chamber event, Lead$ Lunch. The networking and referrals event rotated each month to one of the Chamber’s several restaurant members. Several members would join for each event making it one of the most successful networking events in the Palm Springs area.
Each month, the Palm Springs Chamber also held their Mixer event at a member restaurant. David, along with Palm Springs Chamber CEO, Nona Watson, would greet hundreds of guests representing member businesses as well as prospective new members.
When we asked David, how did you cope over the last year, he said he cursed a lot but mainly kept in touch with members to help assist them by answering questions, connecting them to financial support, and relaying updates on shutdowns and guidances.
David told us, he is grateful that many of the businesses in town are surviving. He has even informed us new businesses are still opening, as well. Looking ahead, David is anticipating the return to Red this week, meaning many restaurants will be again be able to have indoor seating albeit with 25% capacity and other COVID related restrictions. After a year of this pandemic, David is eager to start to see the business community and tourism return.
Thank you to David White, this week’s Man Crush Monday!
