Karen Devine

The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce has announced that longtime broadcast journalist Karen Devine will receive the 486th star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars, recognizing her contributions in both the Humanitarian and Entertainment categories. The public dedication ceremony will take place on Friday, March 27 at 11 am at 112 N Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs.

For nearly 35 years, Devine has been a trusted presence in Coachella Valley households. She began her local broadcast career in 1992 at NBC Palm Springs, formerly KMIR, where she spent 17 years before joining KESQ News Channel 3 in 2009. As an evening anchor and investigative reporter, she has played a central role in shaping the regionโ€™s journalism landscape.

Her work with the Iโ€‘Team has elevated public safety awareness, held officials accountable, and sparked meaningful community dialogue. Her reporting on the opioid crisis encouraged families across the valley to share their experiences, deepening public understanding of the issue.

Devineโ€™s distinguished career has earned multiple Emmy Awards, two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, and Golden Mike Awards. She is also a recipient of the Athena Award from the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce and has been inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle. In 2024, she was honored with induction into the Coachella Valley Media Hall of Fame, and in 2019 she was named Woman of the Year by California Assemblyman Chad Mayes.

Her community involvement extends far beyond the newsroom. Devine has emceed dozens of nonprofit fundraisers and supports organizations including the American Cancer Society, Palm Springs Women in Film and Television, The Girlfriend Factor, and Loma Linda Childrenโ€™s Center. She has also participated in numerous Walk of the Stars ceremonies and major civic events such as Palm Springs Pride and the DAP Health AIDS Walk.

A La Quinta resident since the early 1990s, Devine has raised her family in the Coachella Valley and remains deeply committed to the community she serves both onโ€‘air and off.
