DBA Workshop: Acquiring New Business with Facebook & Instagram

The Desert Business Association presents the basic principles of driving business value through Facebook and Instagram advertising in this introductory workshop: Acquiring New Business with Facebook & Instagram on Monday, December 9 from 4:00–5:30 p.m. at The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert. Michael Wright, former head of internal ads & business product training at Facebook/Instagram, will cover customer journeys, campaign objectives, and the ad auction. You do not need to be a DBA member to participate, and all workshop attendees are invited as guests to the DBA Networking Mixer immediately following. More info

Cookies, Cocktails, and Crazy Sweaters at Studio One 11

The Cookies, Cocktails and Ugly Sweaters competition takes place at Studio One 11 on Monday, December 9 at 6:00 p.m. Fresh on the high heels of the very popular Cat City Drag Race, this new contest is taking place at six bars in Cathedral City and features an “Ugliest Sweater Contest” with celebrity and audience judges. Prizes each week lead up to a Golden Pass prize valued at $600. The evening is hosted by Cat City Drag Race Winner Angelique VaGorgeous, with music by DJ Galaxy.  Next up: Runway Bar & Restaurant on Monday, December 16. Bourbon Excursion at The Purple Room

The Purple Room Supper Club is once again taking you on a Bourbon Excursion, on Monday, December 9 from 4:00–6:00 p.m. This month’s Bourbon Excursion features five tastings from Garrison Brothers Distillery, the first legal whiskey distillery in Texas history and is one of the first distilleries in America outside of Kentucky to produce authentic, handmade bourbon whiskey and only bourbon whiskey. The Center Social: Paws ‘n’ Claus (Rescheduled to this Week!)

The LGBT Community Center of The Desert presents their Winter Social: Paws-n-Claus hosted by Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge on Wednesday, December 11, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. (Please note this new rescheduled date!) Get your holiday picture taken along with your four-legged friends, and help stock the pet food pantry at The Community Food Bank @ The Center, because sometimes hungry families include hungry pets. Clubs Fore Kids Golf Tournament

The 9th Annual Clubs Fore Kids Golf Tournament takes place Wednesday, December 11 at Escena Golf Club, and benefits the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs, The Palm Springs Hospitality Association, Palm Springs Restaurant Association and PSHA’s Scholarship Fund. Cancer and the Lesbian Community

The LGBT Community Center of The Desert, in collaboration with Eisenhower Health and the L-Fund, presents Cancer and the Lesbian Community on Wednesday, December 11 from 5:30–7:00 p.m. at The Center. According to the National LGBT Cancer Network, those in the LGBTQ community face higher risks of lung, breast, cervical, anal and liver cancers than non-LGBTQ individuals. Join Mark Genesen, MD, Board Certified in Gynecologic Oncology, to learn what factors contribute to this higher risk of cancer diagnosis, potential barriers to care and treatment options for lesbians. Walk of the Inns 2019

It’s your opportunity to visit the many small boutique hotels in Palm Springs with the annual Walk of the Inns tradition on Thursday, December 12 from 6:00–9:00 p.m., starting at the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Palm Springs Women’s Club. Broadway at The River: Holiday Edition

Acqua California Bistro & Musical Theatre University present Broadway at the River: Holiday Edition on select nights in December. The Skivvies: “I Touch My Elf”

The Skivvies return to The Purple Room Supper Club with their holiday-themed show, “I Touch My Elf” for two performances: Friday & Saturday, December 13 & 14. The Skivvies are Lauren Molina and Nick Cearley, self-described “undie-rockers.” This acclaimed duo of singer/musicians performs clever genre-hopping musical arrangements that showcase the artists soaring voices and tight harmonies all with a minimalist dress code to reflect their stripped-down musical style! Chris Isaak at The Show

On Friday, December 13 at 8:00 p.m., Chris Isaak takes the stage at The Show at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa Rancho Mirage. Isaak is called “Rockabilly’s Greatest Ambassador” by Rolling Stone, and his career as a recording artist, songwriter, and actor goes back 34 years. His breakthrough classic “Wicked Game,” remains one of the most covered songs in music. His new album, just released this month, is called First Comes the Night. Isaak’s film soundtrack credits include Wild at Heart, Blue Velvet, True Romance, and Eyes Wide Shut, and the California native has also done extensive work in front of the camera, including The Silence of the Lambs, That Thing You Do! and more. Holiday Shows at Runway: Naughty or Nice?

Runway is presenting two different Holiday Dinner Shows this year: Make your choice for a musical and comedic night of adult humor at the “Naughty” shows or enjoy an evening of holiday classics on the “Nice” nights! Performers include Siobhan Velarde, Gilmore Rizzo, Robbie Wayne, and Mark Kahny. There are two performances of each show: Naughty nights on Saturday, December 14 and Friday, December 20, and Nice nights on Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 21. Palm Canyon Theatre presents the richly textured musical classic “The King and I” running through Sunday, December 22. It is 1862 in Siam when an English widow, Anna Leonowens, and her young son arrive at the Royal Palace in Bangkok, having been summoned by the King to serve as tutor to his many children and wives.
