On Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. the Palm Springs Public Library will be hosting one of two planned Drag Queen Story Hour events for families in the Youth Room featuring our very own local diva Bella da Ball! There will be a fun craft, a story or two read by Bella da Ball and then a dance party to end the evening. Kids of all ages are invited to attend; it will be a fun evening for the whole family! The second scheduled event will occur on Wednesday June 6, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Youth Room.
Founded by Michelle Tea and RADAR Productions out of San Francisco, Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like—drag queens reading stories to children in libraries, schools, and bookstores. DQSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. Hosted at libraries across the country, from New York to Los Angeles, new events are popping up all over and Palm Springs is now the newest location!
