While today it serves nearly 60,000 patients, Desert Oasis Healthcare began operations from a single clinic location as Primary Care of Palm Springs on July 1, 1981. Over the next 40 years, Desert Oasis Healthcare (DOHC) has become one of the largest medical groups in the desert communities of southern California, advancing with changes in primary and immediate care, home health, palliative care, clinical research studies, and much more.
During four decades of service, DOHC has grown its commitment of annual giving to the many local nonprofit organizations whose missions help individuals and families, young and old, in the DOHC service area of the Coachella Valley and Greater Morongo Basin of Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Even though they had already provided far more substantial financial support in 2021 to nonprofit organizations fighting hunger, offering social services, or treating chronic and terminal health conditions, DOHC decided to do even more, in celebration of 40 years, because “As COVID-19 has proven, there is always more work to be done,” said Dr. Marc Hoffing, DOHC Medical Director.
From June 1-28 print, digital, and English and Spanish TV ads DOHC invited the community to visit its website and rank the 10 nonprofits they felt most deserving to receive greater shares of the $40,000. Although the nonprofits would each receive at least $1,000, Palm Springs Animal Shelter rallied members, donors, volunteers, and others to receive $12,000!
