We still have August to go through before the summer starts to wind down. But one of our newer summer events has just come to a close, and that is CVRep’s Summer Cabaret Series. And what an amazing finish it had. Davis Gaines tore down the house with a sensational performance of Broadway tunes and American Songbook classics. Mr. Gaines has an enviable resume of roles including the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, Cornelius Hackl in HELLO DOLLY opposite Carol Channing and so many more.
His voice is as glorious as ever with control and phrasing that is simply astounding. He brings a depth of meaning to familiar songs which makes it seem like you are hearing them for the first time. That is a talent which is. truly rare. The combination of his joy of singing and warm personality plus that amazing voice created an evening that was the perfect topper to a terrific season.
So, speaking of seasons, it’s time to take a look at what Adam Karsten, CVRep’s artistic director, has lined up for the ’26-’27 season.
First up is THE MINUTES (Oct. 28-Nov. 15)
Written by Tracey Letts, THE MINUTES is set in a small midwestern town’s city council meeting where the newest member starts to ask too many questions. A razor-sharp political satire that peels back the polished surface of small-town democracy, to reveal secrets, power plays, and the chilling truth.
AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS adapted by Mark Brown.
From the novel by Jules Verne. (Dec. 2 – Dec. 20)
In the style of the charming and funny The 39 Steps, Around The World In 80 Days is as inventive as it is exhilarating. Five actors playing 40 roles will guarantee a fun-filled evening.
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET (Jan. 13 – Jan. 31)
Featuring icons like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins, this electrifying musical brings their hits, the rivalries, and the raw energy of a once-in-a-lifetime jam session to life.
LES MISERABLES (Feb. 24 – Mar. 21)
With a glorious score, LES MISERABLES is an epic tale of love, sacrifice, and redemption set against the backdrop of revolution.
