The first in the annual Jazzoo Concert Series at The Living Desert takes to the stage in the Palm Garden on Sunday, January 11 at 4:30 p.m. Jeff Jarvis, the Director of the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at Cal State Long Beach, brings his big band sound to kick off the 31st season of the popular series.

“The Bob Cole Conservatory’s musicians are some of the finest in the nation, and this is a unique opportunity to enjoy the up-and-coming stars of jazz and swing,” said Bobbi Goodman, the producer of this year’s Jazzoo Concert Series. “The ensemble concert will feature a playlist from the Big Band era, which spans from the 1930s to the 1960s,” said Goodman.

The first afternoon concert will take place in the Palm Garden at The Living Desert, a perfect outdoor lounge for the performance. While guests can bring their own snacks and beverages, The Living Desert will also have a full bar service available and light refreshments for purchase. Patrons interested in bringing their own beer and wine may do so, however, a corkage fee will be assessed.

Tickets are still available, and can be purchased for individual performances or the entire series of five shows running from January through April. Series tickets for The Living Desert members are $160 and $220 for non-members. Single performance tickets for members are $35, and $45 for non-members. Tickets may be purchased online at LivingDesert.org, or by calling 760-346-5694, extension 2166.

The Jazzoo Concert Series benefits The Living Desert. All funds raised beyond the cost of the series support the desert conservation mission of The Living Desert.
