Jason Ball and his husband, Troy Jones, made Palm Springs their home in April 2021. Together they own and operate Old Ranch Inn, a quaint boutique hotel in the Historic Tennis Club neighborhood steps from downtown and steeped in the city’s rich history.
Before trading the newsroom for a desert hotel, Jason spent three decades in television news, including 13 years as News Director at KTLA in Los Angeles, where he led one of the nation’s most respected local newsrooms.
Today, Jason channels his storytelling experience into projects rooted his journalistic past and his desert community present. He’s the creator and host of Life After News, a podcast exploring how journalists reinvent themselves beyond the newsroom, and publisher of Desert Dispatch, a monthly newsletter about life, people, and stories that define Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley.
