AAP – Food Samaritans (AAP) announced today that the Desert Tennis Association will continue its long-time support of AAP by donating the proceeds from the upcoming 29th Annual Palm Springs Open to AAP to support its food voucher program for low-income Coachella Valley residents living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses. Since 2006, the Desert Tennis Association is proud to have donated more than $100,000 to AAP – Food Samaritans.
The Palm Springs Open is an international tennis tournament run by the DTA that attracts more than 270 LGBT players from around the world. DTA is a non-profit corporation that organizes tennis events for the LGBT community in the Coachella Valley and raises funds for local charities. The tournament is free to the public, and the proceeds from a silent auction will benefit AAP.
The Palm Springs Open will take place on Thanksgiving weekend from Friday, November 25 to Sunday, November 27 at the Mission Hills Country Club, Monterey Country Club, and Sunrise Country Club. Admission is free to all who would like to watch players from all around the world compete in one of the largest LGBTQ tennis tournaments. Semi-finals and finals will be on Sunday, November 27, starting at 8 AM at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage.
A Player Welcome Party will take place on Thursday, November 24 (Thanksgiving) from 7 to 9 PM at Hunter’s Palm Springs, 302 E. Arenas Road. On Friday and Saturday nights there will also be a late-night party at Chill Bar. A Player’s Party with a silent auction and raffle benefitting AAP – Food Samaritans will also be held at Mission Hills Country Club’s main clubhouse at 7 PM on Saturday, November 26. The event will be hosted by Bella da Ball and Keisha D will entertain. Tickets are available for $30 per person at the door.
