Toni Atkins at The Dinah 2025

Palm Springs is preparing for a landmark moment in LGBTQ+ history as Democratic Leader and California gubernatorial candidate Toni Atkins steps into the spotlight at The Dinah on Saturday, September 27. Her appearance marks a powerful convergence of political leadership, queer celebration, and cultural legacy during the 34th—and final—year of Mariah Hanson’s production of the iconic event.

Atkins, a trailblazer in California politics and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, will take the pool stage around noon to greet attendees and host an exclusive meet-and-greet. Her presence underscores the values The Dinah has championed for over three decades: visibility, empowerment, and community connection.

The Dinah, founded and produced by Mariah Hanson since 1991, has grown into the world’s largest party for queer women, nonbinary folks, and allies. This year’s edition carries added significance as Hanson prepares to pass the torch after 34 years of shaping queer culture in California and beyond.

On Saturday night, Atkins will also attend the Hollywood Soirée, the weekend’s most glamorous and star-studded event. Her participation places her among a select group of politicians who recognize the importance of The Dinah’s legacy and its role in uplifting LGBTQ+ voices.

“I’m honored to be part of this historic year for The Dinah and to celebrate Mariah Hanson’s remarkable legacy,” Atkins said. “This event has always been about community, connection, and visibility, values that continue to shape our future.”
