Skylark Hotel Lost Property

The Skylark has proudly completed its long-anticipated renovation, reimagining the iconic 1950s California classic with a modern twist. Located along the iconic Palm Canyon, the newly refreshed boutique hotel offers 28 restored guest rooms, an updated swimming pool, and enhanced outdoor spaces, making it ideal for events, weddings, and full-property buyouts.

In tandem with the renovation, The Skylarkโ€”owned by Amitesh Damudarโ€”introduces its newest culinary addition, Lost Property Restaurant & Bar. For over a decade, Lost Property has been a renowned cocktail and whiskey bar in Hollywood, recognized both nationally and internationally. Now, Amitesh brings that iconic experience to the desert, offering the same signature blend of craftsmanship and creativity that has made Lost Property a staple in the bar community.

Amiteshโ€™s journey into hospitality began at a young age. His family immigrated to the U.S. in 1974, and his father purchased the Holiday Lodge Motel in Burbank (now The Tangerine). Amitesh grew up on the property, working every role, from housekeeping to front desk, where he learned firsthand the importance of customer service. His upbringing in hospitality laid the foundation for his passion to reimagine the family motel, transforming it into The Tangerine. After years of searching for his next venture, Amitesh found his diamond in the rough: The Skylark, which he has now restored to its former mid-century glory while adding a modern, sophisticated touch.

โ€œIt’s hard to believe it’s been nearly eight years since we began reimagining The Skylark. Now, the moment has arrived, and we’re beyond excited to share our vision and make our mark on the desert’s hospitality and culinary scene!โ€ – Amitesh Damudar, Owner

To help bring Lost Property to life in Palm Springs, Amitesh partnered with two industry experts: Executive Chef Brandon Kida and renowned bar visionary Rhino Williams. Chef Kidaโ€™s impressive culinary career spans Michelin-starred kitchens, including his work at Hinoki & the Bird in Los Angeles. His menu blends the flavors of his Japanese heritage, his childhood in Los Angeles, and refined French culinary techniques, creating dishes that are both flavorful and artfully presented. Signature offerings like the Lobster Roll and Crispy Chicken Sandwich will undoubtedly become guest favorites.

Rhino Williams, founder of Lost Property in Hollywood, brings his wealth of experience and passion for the bar industry. Born and raised on a mountain farm bed-and-breakfast in Snowdonia, Wales, Rhino was drawn to the bar business at a young age. Starting as a bar-back and busboy, he worked his way through the ranks, bartending at various spots in high school and college. After initially pursuing a career in aviation, Rhinoโ€™s passion for hospitality led him on a global journey, where he worked in bars and restaurants in London, New York, and Los Angeles. He eventually founded Lost Property Group and opened the renowned Hollywood & Vine whiskey bar in 2014. His collaboration with Amitesh at The Skylark marks the next chapter in his storied career, bringing his cocktail expertise to the desert.

โ€œOne of my secret pleasures is during service and the venue is busy, Iโ€™ll step back for a minute and I remember that the concept was just a few sketches I did on a piece of paper, and now itโ€™s a reality where guests are enjoying themselves and creating real memoriesโ€ -Rhino Williams, Lost Property
