The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert will host its annual Center Stage gala on October 21, 2022, at the Palm Springs Air Museum to raise funds for its ongoing work throughout the Coachella Valley.
Following the post-COVID return success of The Center’s annual gala last year that transformed one of the Palm Springs Air Museum’s hangars into a lavish ballroom of celebration and recognition, Center Stage is returning this October with the inclusive theme of “Together We Rise,” honoring and uplifting the united solidarity of the LGBTQ+ community from Palm Springs to the Salton Sea amid these unprecedented times, with a particular emphasis on the upliftment of the trans community, as highlighted by the gala’s light blue, pink and white color arrangements.
“We want to bring our community together in solidarity and elevate one another,” says Rob Wheeler, Executive Director & CEO of The Center, “and we want to do it in a fun, positive, and joyous way, which is why we chose ‘Together We Rise’ as our theme for this year’s gala. It is also why we chose Jeremy Hobbs of the Western Wind Foundation and Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest as our honorees, for all the critical work they do for the Coachella Valley community in these trying times.”
Announced to be the headlining the entertainment at the event are Jennifer Corday, the award-winning and out-and-proud lesbian singer/songwriter who has shared stages with Melissa Etheridge, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar and many other iconic female artists; and Brian Justin Crum, the top-charting queer singer-songwriter and former America’s Got Talent finalist whose breakout Broadway role in Wicked led to a soaring career performing with Queen and sold-out worldwide concerts as a solo artist.
Alongside the entertainment will be the dazzling catering of Palm Springs’ iconic LULU California Bistro. This year’s gala is set to be more exclusively limited on attendee count, allowing a more vibrantly interactive experience between all in attendance.
