“Mariah Hanson always had a knack for throwing parties. So in 1991, she decided to put together a queer celebration, known as The Dinah, in Palm Springs, California, during a womenโs golf tournament happening that same weekend.
The inaugural event took place at the Palm Springs Art Museum, with the weekend eventually evolving to a five-day festival described as โlesbian spring breakโ by The New York Times and โworldโs biggest lesbian social whirlโ by the Los Angeles Times.
