“Every rose has its thorn. And here in the desert, that thorn is definitely July.

After blessing us with splendid weather for much of the year, the gods come back to even the score in this dreaded seventh month (and based on the upcoming forecast, they seem intent on getting extra even this time around).

But while we can’t help anyone deal with the inevitable pain of opening your next air conditioning bill, or the sadness that comes with Googling weekend Airbnbs in Idyllwild only to realize it’s going to be 100 degrees up there, too, we do have some good news to share.

Summer may be our most miserable season, but that didn’t stop some enterprising Coachella Valley restaurateurs from opening several new eateries recently.

So whether your summer cravings run toward sushi, gyros or lemon curd waffles, you shouldn’t have too hard of a time finding something to get excited about. But we won’t fault you if you need to wait until it’s a little cooler to summon the motivation to actually go check them out.
