“Summertime, and the livin’ is easy” are the lyrics of a song. This is not true for those with food
insecurity in the Palm Springs areas. As the population decreases in the summer so do the donations of
food. It is now at a dangerously low level.
The LGBT Center’s Food Pantry is now weekly serving 180 individuals and families. It is mistakenly
thought that these are homeless. Actually, the homeless are a very small number. Majority of those
needing food are individuals on a fixed income and families whose employment does not provide a
living wage.
Please contribute to this much needed food drive on August 5 at 5:00pm on Arenas St in front of
Hunter’s.
