Sweet Baby J’ai, the acclaimed vocalist, event producer, and celebrated figure in the jazz world is embarking on a thrilling new chapter, “Sweet Baby J’ai Presents.” Honored as a Living Jazz Legend, having been inducted into the California Jazz and Blues Hall of Fame, J’ai leaves an indelible mark on the jazz community, including being the co-founder and Artistic Director for prestigious festivals such as the Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival, Juneteenth Jazz Fest, the Sunset Music Desert Oasis, and now Sweet Baby J’ai Presents. This marks an exciting new chapter, and she is ecstatic about the endless possibilities.
J’ai describes this transition as bittersweet, referring fondly to the Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival’s late co-founder and executive producer, Gail Christian. “The loss of my partner in music, Gail, earlier this year served as a poignant reminder that life is fleeting, and the time to venture ahead is now,” She adds, “The Festival will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I’ll always be ready to lend a hand when it returns. Together with an exceptional team of women, we birthed one of the world’s premier women’s festivals. I take immense pride in our mission to amplify the voices and talents of women musicians, ensuring they receive the visibility and recognition they so rightfully deserve.”
But change is the heartbeat of progress, and Sweet Baby J’ai is eager to embrace what’s next. “This partnership with Sunset Music is a dream come true, and I can’t wait to introduce our community to this incredible blend of music and comedy. It’s a chance to create something fresh and exciting for our audience,” J’ai exclaims.
Producer Liz Borden says, ‘Sweet Baby J’ai Presents’ is committed to delivering the same dedication, excellence, and innovation as we broaden our horizons. Our dedicated team is thrilled to showcase diverse talent, encompassing female and male artists and a wide range of musical genres. SBJ emphasizes, “Our resolute mission remains steadfast as passionate advocates committed to promoting and uplifting women artists.”
The Sweet Baby J’ai Presents team kicks off the season in Palm Springs with an unforgettable fusion of uproarious laughter and captivating melodies.
