In appreciation of first responders, medical care professionals & healthcare workers at all levels increasingly called upon to make extraordinary efforts in combating the coronavirus pandemic as cases, infections, and deaths rise, we bring a member of our own Greater Palm Springs Rodeo chapter to mind – Jody Cap.

At its annual convention in Portland, OR, last year, the HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification Board, a national association of nurses with headquarters in Ohio, honored Jody Cap as Nurse of the Year.  Jody has made healthcare his life’s calling – most particularly the field of HIV-AIDS.  He’s been involved in medicine over twenty years during which he has advanced to positions of increasing responsibility, and received numerous certifications & accreditations, including most recently a master’s degree in business administration.  He is a founding member of the Greater Palm Springs Chapter of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC).  Indeed, Jody was elected that organization’s first president.  Jody also serves on our own board of directors as Vice President of Rodeo Operations.

In nearby Arizona, we pay tribute to Brian Helander, a name & personality well known throughout the rodeo community.  Brian is also a member of ANAC and  serves as president of the ANAC Central Southern Arizona chapter.  His latest achievement is to receive a Ph.D.

Sincere thanks to Jody, Brian, and many men & women in medicine and in rodeo for their tireless efforts and dedication to the health & welfare of us all.
