Palm Springs Pride has announced its 2025 Grand Marshals, honoring six extraordinary individuals whose advocacy, artistry, and leadership embody this year’s theme: Be Heard. In a time when LGBTQ+ voices face mounting challenges—from legislative attacks on trans rights to censorship in education—these honorees stand as beacons of courage and connection.
Sister Roma, Grand Marshal, has spent nearly four decades with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, transforming activism into art and compassion. Known for her bold presence and tireless fundraising, Roma helped launch the #MyNameIs campaign, challenging identity erasure and amplifying queer voices worldwide.
Holly Near, Celebrity Grand Marshal, is a legendary singer-songwriter whose music has long been a rallying cry for peace, feminism, and LGBTQ+ justice. Her performances transcend entertainment, offering healing and hope to generations of listeners who see themselves reflected in her lyrics.
Peter Daut, Community Grand Marshal, is a six-time Emmy-winning journalist whose reporting and community engagement have made him a trusted voice in the Coachella Valley. Whether hosting the Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast or spotlighting local nonprofits, Daut uses his platform to uplift and inform.
Three Marsha P. Johnson Grand Marshals reflect the heart of trans advocacy in the region:
- Esther Loewen, therapist, educator, and podcast host, brings mental health expertise and lived experience to her work, creating spaces for authenticity and healing through Transgender Woman Talking.
- Renae Punzalan, Director of Youth Services at the Transgender Health & Wellness Center, is a fierce advocate for trans youth, organizing events like Trans Pride and TDoR to honor lives and build community.
- Jasper Price, Director of Trans & Gender Expansive Programs at the LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert, focuses on mental health and education, expanding affirming resources for youth and adults across the valley.
In addition to the Grand Marshals, Palm Springs Pride has named Douglas Woodmansee and Marshall Pearcy—known as Dottie and Maude—as Pride Royalty for Life. Together since 1976 and longtime Palm Springs residents, they’ve been central figures in the parade since 1995. As Les Dames du Soleil, their dazzling presence and philanthropic spirit have helped raise over $2 million for HIV/AIDS charities, cementing their legacy as icons of generosity and joy.
Executive Director Jasmine Sullivan Waits emphasized the urgency of this year’s honorees: “They remind us that our stories cannot be silenced, and our community will not be erased.”
