The Palm Springs Public Library Foundation has officially launched its capital campaign, โA New Chapter: Revitalizing Our Palm Springs Public Library,โ inviting the community to help shape the future of a beloved civic institution. Following the September 18 groundbreaking, the $52 million renovationโthe largest in the libraryโs historyโcombines $45 million in government funding with a $7 million goal in private donations.
To inspire early giving, the Library Board of Trustees has pledged a $1 million match, doubling the impact of every contribution. With $650,000 already committed by local donors, the campaign is gaining momentum.

The revitalized library will feature a modernized 35,000-square-foot main building and the 4,000-square-foot JC Frey Building, both designed by William F. Cody. Plans include an event hall, maker space, teen center and outdoor reading gardens.
Naming opportunities and an endowment fund will honor donor generosity while ensuring long-term sustainability and innovation. The new library is expected to reopen in summer 2027, offering a legacy of literacy, creativity and connection for generations to come.
