Palm Springs has opened an important door — and it’s one our LGBTQ+ community cannot afford to leave unanswered. The City has launched a new community survey to help shape the selection of the next Police Chief, a role that directly influences public safety, trust, and how well marginalized communities are heard.
As the call for participation states, “Community input is a vital part of our internal recruitment process and will help identify the leadership qualities, values, and priorities that are most important to our residents and stakeholders.” Our voices matter in defining those priorities. The survey is anonymous, takes just 8–10 minutes, and gives every resident a chance to articulate what leadership, accountability, and community partnership should look like — especially for LGBTQ+ people who rely on equitable, compassionate policing.
