Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) is preparing for one of its busiest periods of the year as the holiday travel season begins, welcoming more than 55,000 departing passengers between December 20–28. With peak travel days expected on Tuesday, December 22, Friday, December 26, and Sunday, December 28, the airport is emphasizing early arrival, parking awareness, and the use of real‑time travel tools to ensure a smooth experience for all travelers.
Security screening is anticipated to be heaviest between 9 am and 1 pm, when up to 700 passengers per hour may move through TSA checkpoints. Full screening capacity will be in place, and travelers can monitor wait times in real time at flyPSP.com.
PSP recommends that passengers checking bags arrive at least two hours before departure, while those traveling with carry‑on luggage only should plan to arrive 90 minutes early—especially during peak morning hours.
Parking demand is expected to surge throughout the holiday period. While main lots may fill quickly, overflow parking will be available with shuttle service during peak times. Travelers can check parking availability in advance at flyPSP.com, and are encouraged to consider rideshare, taxis, or SunLine Transit as alternatives. New parking rates, effective November 24, 2025, include $9 hourly parking, a $26 daily maximum, and an $18 per‑day overflow option. These updated rates support PSP’s recent enhancements, including smart access systems, license‑plate recognition, and expanded mobile payment features.
Inside the terminal, travelers will find an expanded dining and retail experience, with 13 new shops and restaurants now open. While some locations may be busy during peak hours, grab‑and‑go options remain available throughout the concourses.
PSP is also continuing its popular Stay & Play Visitor Pass program, allowing non‑travelers to meet arriving passengers at the gate or accompany loved ones through security. Availability and details are posted at flyPSP.com/StayAndPlay.
The airport also reminds travelers of TSA guidelines: wrapped gifts may need to be opened during screening, so gift bags are recommended; liquids, gels, and food items such as sauces or gravies must follow the 3.4‑ounce rule and fit within a quart‑sized bag.
Palm Springs International Airport encourages all travelers to plan ahead and visit flyPSP.com for the latest updates throughout the holiday season.
