Palm Springs Animal Shelter
’s third annual fundraising benefit, Faux Fur Ball III celebrates the human/animal bond through art. Join a cocktail party filled with entertainment, celebrity, artwork, and interaction with the animal shelter… All for a good cause!

The “Friend For Life” award will be given to 2 time Emmy winner Loretta Swit, best known as Margaret “Hot Lips" Houlihan from the TV series M*A*S*H. A strict vegan, she served as a spokesperson for the Humane Society of the United States and has been multi-honored for her long-time dedication and passion to animals. She is also the author/artist of her new book “SwitHeart: The Watercolour Artistry & Animal Activism of Loretta Swit”. Books will be available for signing at the event.

The evening will be MC’d by Palm Springs’ very own “Judy” direct from Michael Holmes’ Purple Room, home of classic cocktails, world-class cuisine from award-winning chef Jenn Town, and the best in live entertainment six nights a week, including The Judy Show every Sunday night.

Faux Fur Ball III includes a Live Auction that is sure to be lively (and entertaining) with special guest auctioneers Bella da Ball and Bryan Gallo of KMIR. There is also a Silent Auction with one-of-a-kind auction items and a Raise-A-Paw donation rally where donors can sponsor high-impact shelter items.

Local artists, entertainment, music, cocktails, and food for the evening is being provided by Chef Tanya’s Kitchen, Dish Creative Cuisine, Ben & Jerry’s, Carousel Catering, LULU California Bistro, Greek Islands, Tropicale and Over the Rainbow Cupcakes – all coordinated by Shari Kelly Events

Tours of the shelter will provide a chance to meet and engage with some of the animals in residence and an opportunity to learn from staff and volunteers how they operate and maintain the state-of-art, animal life-saving facility.

The Palm Springs Animal Shelter is the only municipal no-kill animal shelter in the Coachella Valley and operates on funds through a partnership with the City of Palm Springs, as well as private donations and through fundraising events like the Faux Fur Ball III. All proceeds go to providing animals with the best possible in-shelter care, and critical life-saving programs.

In 2016 The Palm Springs Animal Shelter
• Took in nearly 4,000 animals
• Adopted out nearly 2,000 animals
• Provided almost 3,000 surgeries
• Served more than 750 pets in their weekly public clinics that include low-cost vaccinations
• Provided almost 700 low-cost spay and neuter surgeries
• Completed nearly 700 feral cat trap and releases (TNR)
• Fostered out 805 animals
• Provided over 150,000 meals for pets, through the Meals on Wheels Program and AIDS Assistance Program

“It's not easy following the no-kill philosophy, but when you believe, truly believe that you can make a difference for a pet that has been lost, abused or abandoned, you fight for them. Keeping that pet healthy, happy and giving them the chance to find a lap of their own, someone to give those daily belly rubs, and a pillow to call their own, is why we do it. But we can't do it alone, nearly 50% of our operating budget comes from donations. They are counting on us, and we are counting on you. Believe, and you can make a difference,” said Stephen Boyd, President of the Board of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter.

This years’ sponsors include the Grace Helen Spearman Charitable Foundation, Harold Matzner, Contour Dermatology, Pacific Premier Bank, Spencer’s Restaurant, Palm Springs Disposal Services, Subaru Palm Springs, Chill Bar and many others.
