McCallum Theatre Education is pleased to announce its annual Call for Entries for OPEN CALL TALENT PROJECT 2019! This always highly-anticipated Valley-wide competition is a perfect opportunity to showcase the talents of local singers, dancers, musicians, jugglers, magicians, comedians or any other self-contained novelty act. Finalists, chosen from live auditions, gain the opportunity to perform at the respected McCallum Theatre and work with a professional artistic and production team and a talented cast of local performers.
There is no cost to enter Open Call. Applicants must be at least 8 years of age and reside within a 45 mile radius of the McCallum. The deadline to submit materials is December 3, 2018. Submission information and live audition and rehearsal dates are available on the McCallum website at http://www.mccallumtheatre.com/index.php/education/open-call. Finalists will appear on stage at the McCallum Theatre in four performances: Thursday, April 18 at 7pm, Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 at 2pm and 7pm. McCallum audiences participate in voting for their favorite acts at the first three performances. Cash prizes are awarded to the grand prize ($2500), 2nd place ($750) and audience choice ($750) award winners. All Open Call finalists will receive a cash stipend.
It’s time for local residents to tune that instrument, learn a new song, try a new dance step and be a part of Open Call Talent Project! Open Call is a wonderful experience for all participating performers, from the youngest student to the oldest senior. Everyone in the group wants to bring joy to the audience, to be proud of the hard work they've put in to get there, and get better at their craft. Whether you are a young student trying to make your parents proud, a college student headed for Broadway, or a senior just enjoying retirement, this is one of the highest honors in the Desert
Earl Mitchell, Open Call 2018 Finalist
A “one of a kind” production that will make you want to return again and again. The diverse talent is amazing and the finale is astonishing. The sense of community emanating from the performers is palpable and must indeed be a life altering experience for them. Brava/bravo!!!
