McCallum Theatre Education is pleased to announce its annual Call for Entries for OPEN CALL TALENT PROJECT 2018! This always highly-anticipated Valley-wide competition is a perfect opportunity to showcase the talents of local singers, dancers, musicians, jugglers, magicians, comedians or any other self-contained novelty act.  Finalists, chosen from live auditions, gain the opportunity to perform at the respected McCallum Theatre and work with a professional artistic and production team and a talented cast of local performers.

There is no cost to enter Open Call. Applicants must be at least 8 years of age and reside within a 45 mile radius of the McCallum. The deadline to submit materials is December 4, 2017. Submission information and rehearsal dates are available on the McCallum website at Visit the website now to complete the electronic application form and upload your video file.

Finalists will appear on stage at the McCallum Theatre in four performances:  Thursday, April 19 at 7pm, Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21 at 2pm and 7pm.  McCallum audiences participate in voting for their favorite acts at the first three performances.  The audience vote carries the weight of one judge’s vote in the final performance where winners will be announced. Cash prizes are awarded to the grand prize ($2500), 2nd place ($750) and audience choice ($750) award winners. All Open Call finalists will receive a cash stipend.

It’s time for local residents to tune that instrument, learn a new song, try a new dance step and be a part of Open Call Talent Project! For more information, please contact Production Manager, Joanna Fookes at 760-346-6505, extension 142 or visit the website at

Open Call inspires people of all ages who love the stage to dream big and to push themselves to be the best they can be. I will never forget the time I spent working with other performers from our own community in such a professional setting. Thank you for providing me the opportunity to inspire my students and to share my craft and talents. – Javier Triviso, Open Call 2017 Grand Prize Award Winner My love of Open Call is not for the talent, but the heart and soul of your production. The enthusiasm and energy are amazing and the organization is so impressive that I am sure your crew could run an airplane factory. The finale is awesome and how you get the cast organized in a week is unbelievable. I don't think it matters who wins because Open Call excels because of the whole, not the individual acts.
