Returning for its fourth year, the Gayming Awards will head out to California, debuting at the Margaritaville Resort in Palm Springs on April 7, 2024.
This year, more of the nominations and voting will be opened to the public in a continued quest to seek out and celebrate LGBTQ+ games and names in the industry.
The 2023 Awards saw Cult of the Lamb, Stray, Wylde Flowers and more winning big, while Ashly Burch also took home the Gayming Icon Award as recognition for her contributions to the LGBTQ+ community through voicing so many LGBTQ+ characters like Horizon: Forbidden West’s Aloy and Life is Strange’s Chloe.
Robin Gray, the creator of the Gayming Awards, said: “I’m so thrilled that the impact and reach of the Gayming Awards continue to grow, and this move to Palm Springs shows that we want to keep carving out our space in the global games industry as we come to its spiritual home in California. I’m also delighted that the nomination and voting process is being expanded further to drive forward our mission of equity and inclusion by devolving power to the LGBTQ+ gaming public.”
More than 525,000 people in 90+ countries around the world watched the 2023 Awards, while 200 people were in-house at NYC’s iconic Industry Bar. The 2024 Awards will continue the hybrid approach by streaming on Twitch and TikTok, and new for 2024, there will be an increase in short video posts and cutdowns on Gayming’s growing TikTok account.
In a drive to further increase the celebration of diversity and inclusion of nominees, the Gayming Awards are also proud to reveal the launch of a Community Diversity Council headed up by Raffy Regulus from NYC Gaymers. This council will sit alongside the production team of the 2024 Awards with a mission to focus on inclusion and equity for nominees and attendees.
In the lead-up to the big event, gaming fans can nominate – and then vote on – their favorite games and names across 10 categories. Nominations are now open at gaymingawards.com and close on November 24, 2023.
