Nicholas Snow LGBTQ Archives
L-R: Nicholas Snow with Nicholas Snow, Co-Founders David Gray & Julie Warren, Co-Founders, LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desert

The LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desert has announced a significant future legacy gift from journalist, broadcaster, and Multimedia Entertainment Activist Nicholas Snow, founder of PromoHomo.TV. Snow has designated the Archives as the permanent home for his lifeโ€™s work, ensuring that more than four decades of LGBTQ+ media, advocacy, and community storytelling will be preserved for generations to come.

According to the press release, the planned donation will include โ€œrecordings, interviews, photographs, publications, correspondence, promotional materials, and other historical artifactsโ€ documenting Snowโ€™s extensive contributions to LGBTQ+ culture and visibility. These materials reflect his long-standing commitment to amplifying queer voices, covering community issues, and chronicling both local and national LGBTQ+ history.

David Gray, President and Coโ€‘Founder of the LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desert, emphasized the importance of Snowโ€™s decision, noting that โ€œpersonal collections often become invaluable community resources.โ€ He added that Snowโ€™s work captures โ€œimportant moments in LGBTQ+ life and culture,โ€ and that the Archives is honored to serve as the future steward of his legacy.

Snow, whose career spans more than forty years, shared that preserving LGBTQ+ history has always been central to his mission. โ€œThe LGBTQ+ community has too often seen its history disappear through neglect, stigma, or lack of preservation,โ€ he said. By entrusting his archives to the organization, he hopes to ensure that future generations can learn from the stories, struggles, and triumphs documented throughout his career.

The LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desertโ€”founded in 2019โ€”continues to encourage individuals, organizations, and businesses to contribute materials that help document the rich and diverse history of LGBTQ+ life in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley.
