Palm Springs Hot Rodeo is up and kicking (bucking, actually); just not as high as before onset of the pandemic.  Where fundraising & social events are necessarily suspended, the organization continues full speed with administrative functions and is developing plans for Palm Springs Hot Rodeo 2021, the weekend of  April 30th – May 2nd, 2021.

At their virtual meeting last month, Palm Springs rodeo association members elected new officers to sit on the Greater Palm Springs Rodeo Corp. board of directors:

President                                           Jeff Rosenberg

Vice President Administration           Buck Beal

Vice President Rodeo Operations     Jody Cap

Secretary                                           Rick Paul

Treasurer                                           Sammy Van Galder

Jeff returns to the top position, which he held previously before serving as Golden State Gay Rodeo Association president a number of years.  Similarly, Buck returns as Vice President of  Administration, a position he held 2017-2018.  More recently he was Rodeo Director for the 33rd World Gay Rodeo Finals this past October at WestWorld in Scottsdale.  Long-time chapter & GSGRA member, Jody Cap, was elected to serve as Vice President of Rodeo Operations.  Jody has been involved in rodeo much of his adult life and won his first buckle at age twenty-two.  Jody has held elected & leadership positions previously and presently is president of the Greater Palm Springs chapter of ANAC (a national nursing organization in the United States which specializes in the care of individuals infected with HIV).   Jody recently received a master’s degree in Business Administration.  Rick Paul was elected chapter secretary.  Rick has been around rodeo several years and is a new Palm Springs chapter member.  He has been an asset to the marketing & fundraising team in the months prior to the pandemic.  Rick also sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the World Gay Rodeo Finals in Scottsdale.  Rick brings strong business skills to the board.   Finally, Sammy Van Galder was elected Treasurer.  Sammy has a lifetime of experience in rodeo and has held many leadership positions both locally and at the Capital Crossroads Gay Rodeo Association.  His keen knowledge over many years and strong background in bylaws and standing rules are among his many attributes.

At the same time, the election brought with it the conclusion of many years devoted service by outgoing chapter president, Ken Smith; and treasurer, Gregg Harvey.  Both served the Palm Springs chapter with distinction & admiration over many years.  Their leadership & guidance have been invaluable to Palm Springs.

Please join in welcoming the new board of directors, and at the same time extending a world of appreciation and best wishes to Ken and Gregg for happiness & success in all their future endeavors.
