The Valley’s first senior center has packed its September 2019 calendar with daytime and evening free program demonstrations, BOGO fitness classes, Q&A sessions with the staff, a new series of interactive discussions they’re calling “Frankly…” and so much more.
The community is invited to discover the unexpected, the informative and the fun to be had at the Mizell Senior Center. September will bring lots of opportunities for residents of the greater Palm Springs area and visitors to drop in, chat with members, meet the staff, have lunch in Mizell’s Café 480 and sample our daytime or evening classes and activities.
Mizell will be offering expanded programming during the evening and on Saturdays to accommodate those who work. Members and non-members alike will be able to attend an informative presentation on CBD from a leading expert in the field, an Advocacy 101 Workshop to encourage activism on issues facing mature Americans, and an opportunity to provide input on future programs at the center to name a few of the upcoming activities. Many events will be offered at no charge to all to wish to participate.
“The growth of Palm Springs residents over the age of 55 will explode in the coming decade,” said Wes Winter, Executive Director of Mizell Senior Center. “We want to support the next wave of members in continuing to “age well.” That means meeting Baby Boomers where they live with relevant programming that fits their lifestyle.”
The month-long celebration is designed to introduce or re-introduce Mizell to men and women, age 55 and older, who may not be aware of how much it has to offer. In so doing, Mizell hopes to broaden and diversify its membership base.
