The LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desert announces that it was the recipient of a $500 donation from the Desert Division of the California Boots & Breeches Corps. Founded in 2004, the Desert Division is a one of three divisions of the California Boots & Breeches Corps, the oldest gay men’s uniform club in existence. “A history of the LGBTQ+ community here in the desert is a worthy one, and we are pleased to make a contribution to show our support and enthusiasm for your work,” said Scott Chaffin, Desert Division Communications Officer.
Formed in 2019 and still in its infancy, the LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desert is currently looking for documents and memorabilia from Coachella Valley bars, inns, restaurants, publications, LGBT organizations, and individuals. In addition, all funds raised go toward storing, archiving, preserving, and sharing the LGBTQ+ history of the desert through exhibitions and education.
Should you have any LGBTQ+ treasures in your garage, attic, closet, or storage area and would like to donate them, please contact the organization by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also follow them on Facebook @lgbtqpshistory.
“We appreciate this donation,” said David Gray, Co-Founder and Committee Co-Chair, “every dollar helps us to continue our mission to collect, preserve, and share with our LGBTQ+ community, organizations, allies, and the public.”
