Lesbian Visibility Week will illuminate the Coachella Valley from April 20โ26, 2026, as three leading LGBTQ+ organizationsโthe LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert, the LGBTQ History & Archives of the Desert, and Greater Palm Springs Prideโjoin forces for a week of celebration, education, and community connection. Inspired by The Curve Foundationโs National Lesbian Visibility Week, the local programming uplifts the art, history, and lived experiences of lesbians, queer women, and nonโbinary people who identify with the community.
This yearโs events honor the pioneers who shaped the region while creating space for todayโs voices to be seen, heard, and valued. The full schedule is available at www.thecentercv.org/LVW2026.
The weekโs signature highlight arrives Tuesday, April 21, with the debut of โTrailblazing Lesbians of the Coachella Valleyโ at the Welwood Murray Memorial Libraryโa powerful exhibit honoring Barbara Carpenter, Gail Christian, Lucy DeBardelaben, Ruth Debra, Marjorie Main, Joani Hannan, and Melinda Tremaglio. Their leadership and resilience helped build the foundation of LGBTQ+ life in the desert.
