JO ANNE WORLEY OF LAUGH-IN AND BROADWAY FAME, PLUS BRENNA WHITAKER, CHADWICK JOHNSON, AMANDA MCBROOM AND MORE AT THE PURPLE ROOM IN MAY

The Purple Room will have you laughing and swinging with a lineup of guest performers that ranges from Jo Anne Worley, star of Broadway and the TV classic Laugh-In to the swingin’ jet-setter jazz of Nutty. Vocalists Amanda McBroom, Brenna Whitaker, Chadwick Johnson and Scot Bruce round out the guest performances, plus Palm Springs Jump! returns and Michael Holmes’ sensational The Judy Show! runs for four Sundays in May.

On Friday, May 3 the high-energy musical revue of Palm Springs Jump! pays tribute to legendary stars with Palm Springs connections: from Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby to Lucille Ball, Keely Smith, Elvis Presley, Sonny Bono and many more. Palm Springs JUMP! is created by and features the talents of veteran singers Michael Holmes, Charles Herrera and Darci Daniels, plus the musical flair of Palm Springs celebrated pianist Joel Baker.

Las Vegas Headliner Chadwick Johnson brings his distinctive soulful approach to storytelling through music to the Purple Room on Saturday, May 4. Chadwick has headlined some of the most prominent venues in Las Vegas including The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the Suncoast Showroom, and is currently a resident performer at Red Rock Casino.

Brenna Whitaker’s signature sound and powerful vocals will grace an evening of classics from the American Song Book and Jazz Standards on Friday, May 10. Whitaker will perform songs made famous by Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, and Ella Fitzgerald, as well as selections from her self-titled album released by Verve Records, reviving a vast American jukebox of classic songs and revealing the full force of her stunning, soulful voice.

Scot Bruce brings a young Elvis Presley to life on Saturday, May 11 with his singing, guitar-playing, and hip-swaying. Scot is recognized as the country’s preeminent Elvis performer with CNN declaring, “The closest they can get to Elvis in the flesh is Scot Bruce.”

On Friday, May 17, eight swank jazzniks will delve into classic rock archives and present a jazz mashup that can only be called Nutty. This act is a martini mix of straight-ahead jazz, big band swing, crime jazz/spy jazz, atomic lounge, Latin, bebop and some film/TV soundtrack jazz.

“Let’s Fall in Love” is brought to you by guest performer Amanda McBroom on Saturday, May 18. McBroom first came to prominence when her song The Rose, performed by Bette Midler, hit number one around the world. Come see why Broadway World calls her “…one of the greatest night club performers of all time. Her lyrics are profound and express human emotions in glorious poetry.”

The one-and-only Jo Anne Worley rounds out the last weekend of May at the Purple Room with two performances: Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25. In 1968, her crazy brand of humor landed her a four-year stint on the highly successful, innovative television series Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-in. Her instinctive comedy timing and irrepressible laugh made her a favorite with audiences. Ms. Worley’s work runs the gamut from television, movies, night clubs, to game shows, talk shows, commercials and cartoons, plus many Broadway and touring productions, and she was the voice of the Wardrobe in the Academy Award winning Beauty and the Beast.

Purple Room proprietor and entertainer Michael Holmes, owner of the desert’s premier supper club, will delight audiences with his highly popular, high-octane Judy Garland impersonation in “The Judy Show!” with pianist Joel Baker every Sunday: May 5, 12, 19 and 26.

The Purple Room’s fantastic lineup of complimentary live entertainment takes place every Tuesday through Thursday (no ticket or cover required) each night from 6:30–9:30 p.m.:

Inspired by Sinatra’s favorite spirit, the Purple Room has launched “Frank’s Bourbon Bar” offering more than 50 rare and premium bourbons that include the ultra-exclusive and limited, Pappy Van Winkle from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky. Frank’s Bourbon Bar offers serval flights for patrons to experience a wide variety of bourbon and scotch whiskeys. Also, keep an eye out for special tasting events while in season.

The Purple Room, located at 1900 E. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, California 92264, opens every day at 4 p.m., with Happy Hour in the bar and lounge from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday; and from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Dinner and free entertainment can be enjoyed every Monday through Thursday night (no cover).
