Palm Springs Speaks is launching its eighth season with a rock-and-roll icon. Jane Wiedlin, co-founder, guitarist, and songwriter for the Go-Go’s, will visit Palm Springs this December to discuss her forthcoming memoir, TMI: Memoirs of a Go-Go, in a conversation with veteran entertainment journalist Bruce Fessier.
The event takes place on Tuesday, December 8 at 7:30 pm in Theatre One at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. Presented by the Friends of the Palm Springs Library, the evening will feature an in-depth discussion about Wiedlin’s remarkable career, personal journey, and the stories behind her highly anticipated memoir, which is scheduled for release on November 10.
Best known as a founding member of the Go-Go’s, Wiedlin helped redefine rock music as part of the first all-woman band to top the Billboard charts while writing and performing their own songs. Her songwriting contributions, including the enduring hit “Our Lips Are Sealed,” helped make the group one of the most influential acts of the 1980s. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
During the Palm Springs Speaks appearance, Wiedlin will share candid insights from TMI: Memoirs of a Go-Go, which chronicles her experiences navigating fame, creativity, personal challenges, and reinvention. Following the conversation, she will perform a limited number of songs and participate in a book signing.
The discussion will be led by Bruce Fessier, the award-winning journalist and community advocate whose decades-long career has chronicled the people, events, and cultural evolution of the Coachella Valley. Fessier is also slated to receive a star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars in January.
In recognition of Wiedlin’s longtime commitment to animal welfare, guests are encouraged to bring donations of pet food to benefit Greater Palm Springs Animal Allies. The organization supports animal care and advocacy throughout the region and operates the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, Desert Wildlife Center, and Desert Community Animal Center.
Tickets are available now, with General Admission priced at $45, Preferred Seating at $75, and a limited number of VIP packages available for $120. VIP admission includes a copy of the memoir, a photo opportunity with Wiedlin, priority book signing access, and premium seating.
Palm Springs Speaks was established in 2017 and has become a popular cultural series bringing notable figures from the worlds of entertainment, arts, politics, and wellness to the Coachella Valley while raising funds to support the Palm Springs Public Library. Additional Season Eight speakers will be announced in the coming months.
