The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA) is set to host its 2025 Global Convention right here in Palm Springs this week, from October 21–25. This marks the first time the global network will hold its annual convention in Palm Springs. The event is poised to be a pivotal gathering for the LGBTQ+ travel industry, emphasizing connection, education, and collective impact.

Global Connection and Purposeful Travel

The convention’s core messaging focuses on “Showing Up Matters,” highlighting the collective journey forward across borders and cultures with purpose. The event promises “Networking Gone Global,” with over 600 attendees already registered from more than 30 countries and territories. This global attendance reinforces the IGLTA’s position as the leading network of LGBTQ+ welcoming tourism businesses and the global authority on LGBTQ+ travel.

Education and Impact on Inclusive Tourism

Attendees will have access to diverse convention messaging and programming that covers a wide array of topics. These educational sessions are designed to give attendees a deeper insight into both the LGBTQ+ travel industry and the communities it serves.

As a collective, the IGLTA network is dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ small businesses, empowering entrepreneurs, and advancing inclusive tourism worldwide. The charitable arm of the association, the IGLTA Foundation (IGLTAF), further supports this mission by empowering LGBTQ+ welcoming travel businesses globally through leadership, research, and education.

IGLTA Honors and Industry Spotlight

The convention will shine a light on key industry leaders and organizations through its IGLTA Honors.

  • Pinnacle Award: This year’s recipient is Richard Gray (he/him), who retired in January 2025 as Senior Vice President for Inclusion & Accessibility at Visit Lauderdale. Gray is being recognized for advancing LGBTQ+ tourism for over three decades, notably launching Greater Fort Lauderdale’s groundbreaking LGBTQ+ marketing initiative in 1995.
  • Pathfinder Award: This honor goes to an individual, business, or organization that has positively impacted their destination with warmth and hospitality for the LGBTQ+ community. The 2025 award recognizes The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert, specifically their Trans* and Gender Expansive Programs which serve both residents and visitors to the Coachella Valley.

Attendees can also look forward to insights from Spotlight Speakers, including seasoned travel leader Heidi Podjavorsek (she/her) and Michelle Mason (she/her), President and CEO of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). David Allison (he/him), founder of the Valuegraphics Project, will also be sharing his research on core human values.
