How the Historic Aluminaire House Was Rebuilt at Palm Springs Art Museum

“It stands assertively in the south parking lot of the Palm Springs Art Museum, a compact but powerful, gleaming beacon of modernism. Palm Springs might seem to be the most logical place for the Aluminaire House to have settled, but it took a very long time and a very circuitous route to get here. “Numerous people have touched it over the years. We were the lucky ones who brought it over the finish line,” says L.J. Cella, trustee of Palm Springs Art Museum. He was entrusted with raising the funds that would enable Aluminaire to rise again, this time far from its origins in New York.
