This Labor Day weekend marks the one year anniversary of the launch of Gay Desert Guide. I started building the site in early 2013 with lots of support from friends, business associates and family. A year later, here we are with over 40,001 people visiting the site!
The desert/oasis (we use those two interchangeably and together) is a wonderful place to visit and live. I've been fortunate to find a great sense of community here and am grateful to those who have invested their time, money and resources helping me start Gay Desert Guide.
I even have some wonderful friendly competitors! On your left, we're playing the MIS-Match Game at Oscars with Shann Carr doing her best Gene Rayburn impression. (I was Brett Somers, my favorite “star” of the show)
Gay Desert Guide is meant to be a resource for locals and visitors alike who want to know where to go and what to do in the Oasis. We have curated hundreds of articles about our area in the BOOKMARKS section of the site. (Find articles from the Coachella Valley Independent and The Standard PS whose publishers are shown above). We've listed over 1,000 EVENTS on our calendar and now it acts as the go-to place to find out what's happening (thanks to our editor Alex McCune!) Our Happy Hour Finder lists the top spots in the area. Our BUSINESSES directory is the new “yellow pages” and lists the LGBT-friendly businesses in the valley with whom you can trust to do business. (Thanks to our early support from the DBA and DGTG).
I look forward to our second year and always welcome your feedback and suggestions.
