Jeremy Novy Queer Street Art

Coinciding with Palm Springs Pride weekend, impell gallery presents Global Queer Resistance Through Street Art, a bold and timely exhibition running November 6–9, 2025. The show opens with a reception on Thursday, November 6 from 5–8 pm at 610 S Belardo Rd Suite 1000.

Curated by acclaimed queer street artist Jeremy Novy, the exhibition features his signature stencil work—most famously his koi fish—alongside pieces from international artists including Keith Haring and FAILE. Novy’s art is known for its vibrant imagery and unapologetic advocacy, challenging homophobia while celebrating queer identity in public spaces.

“Queer art has always been an oppressed art form,” says Novy. “We are not taggers—we are street artists. This is for social change. It’s about doing something better”

Novy began his journey in street art during high school, inspired by breakdancing and graffiti culture. He holds a BFA in Photography from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to curate A History of Queer Street Art, a groundbreaking exhibition that toured from San Francisco to Yale University. Today, he’s recognized as one of San Francisco’s leading queer street artists, using his work to honor LGBTQ+ history and confront the misogyny and homophobia often found in street art circles.

Gallery director Mark Pellegrino adds, ““It is the responsibility of queer artists to
question and challenge even the most progressive of politics. Queer street art is
defined in two parts: a rebellion against overt discrimination and violence, and a
celebration of joy and optimism to promote pride in a new generation of queer kids.”

Visitors can meet Novy in person during the exhibition to learn about the cultural impact and ongoing evolution of queer street art. Suggested donations benefit the Urban Visionary Project, supporting community-driven art initiatives.
