Two Jonathon B’s are making headlines and heads turn this week. And both are amazing gay men in their own right.
When you are voted people magazine’s hottest man of the year, heads turn. And when you are an out gay man, heads spin. That’s the “fate” of Jonathan Bailey, who was crowned PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive earlier this month.
What stands out here is that he’s the first openly gay man to win the honor, and it’s not lost on him at all!
Jonathan Bailey talks about his popularity and being an out gay man saying “Nothing is sexier than progress! Bailey told PEOPLE he’s eager to see how the title can help the LGBTQ+ community, saying, “I know what it means, you know, for me — for little me — and also, for a lot of people out there. It’s a celebratory moment for a lot of people.”
After Bailey was given the title, GLAAD issued a statement celebrating the “pop culture milestone.” The honor “reflects just how far LGBTQ visibility in Hollywood has come,” GLAAD Vice President of Communications & Talent Anthony Allen Ramos said of Bailey’s selection.
Bailey stars in Wicked For Good, out now.

Then, there’s our our local Jonathan B. as in Bennett. He was the Mean Girls star who tells the story that he had lost the part. He went back to his job spraying cologne on guests at Abercrombie & Fitch when a text message came in that he had gotten the role. He quit on the spot and walked out! Bennett has starred in multiple movies like The Christmas House and Christmas on Cherry Lane, and also hosts the reality competition series Finding Mr. Christmas.
And this Jonathan B. is being honored this week on the Palm Springs’s Walk of Stars. The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce will unveil the 483rd star on the walk in front of the Welwood Murray Library on Thursday at 11 a.m. Our KGAY morning host John Taylor will have the honor of emceeing the event.
So try to keep your gay Jonathans’ “straight” this week. It’s easy to confuse the two!
