The Party in the Park - Celebrating Palm Desert's 50 Years.

The City of Palm Desert is excited to announce the celebration of its 50th anniversary with a very special day-long event, The Party in the Park, from 3 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at Civic Center Park in the heart of Palm Desert.

The event is free and open to all. Attendees can experience live music performances from acts such as iconic soul and R&B group Rose Royce, Grammy-nominated Thompson Square, and local desert rock bands Brant Bjork, Fatso Jetson, and Unsound.

Coachella Valley artists Cristopher Cichocki, Pete Salcido (of Flat Black Art Supply), and Ryan Campbell will create large-scale art installations, and there will be a Best of Palm Desert space dedicated to celebrating and connecting with community organizations such as the Palm Desert Historical Society, The McCallum Theatre, and The Living Desert Zoo & Botanical Gardens.

Adding to the excitement will be performances by the Washington Charter School Honor Choir, Palm Desert High School Aztec Arts Academy, and an appearance by Feugo, the official mascot of the Coachella Valley Firebirds. 

There will be plenty of family-friendly activities throughout the day, including a KidZone with arts and crafts, an interactive children's mural, a 70-foot obstacle course, the Coachella Valley Firebirds will bring their goal-shooting hockey experience and much more.

Expect food trucks from across Southern California, the Taste of Palm Desert featuring many top local restaurants, and a beer and wine garden serving the finest beer, wine, and spirits for those 21 and older.

Commemorating the City of Palm Desert's 5O-year history will be an 8-foot-high, 40-inch “tell board” defining in words and images the City’s five decades of incorporation: a love letter to Palm Desert. Past and present residents are invited to participate by bringing copies of family photographs of favorite memories and moments in the City. Photos may be uploaded to the event website at palmdesert5O.com or dropped off in person at the Palm Desert Visitor Services Center located at City Hall. Residents are also encouraged to bring their photos on the day of the event for posting on the tell board.
