Star Party at the Monument

The desert sky puts on a spectacular show after sunset, and the Astronomical Society of the Desert invites families to experience it up close during their twice‑monthly **Star Parties**. On **Saturday, Aug. 8 from 8–10 pm**, visitors can enjoy guided “sky tours,” telescope and binocular viewing, and expert insights into planets, stars, and other celestial wonders at the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center. The event is free, wheelchair‑accessible, and perfect for all ages (minors must attend with a guardian). A suggested $10 donation supports Friends of the Desert Mountains. If clouds roll in, the party pauses — but on a clear night, the desert sky is unforgettable.
