The Palm Springs Public Library Foundation presents the second annual Pride on the Page Book Festival www.prideonthepage.org on Saturday, October, 14, 2023. There will also be a special ticketed fundraising ‘celebrity event’ benefitting the Foundation on Friday evening October 13, 2023, to begin the festivities.

Friday, October 13, 2023 / Armistead Maupin in Conversation with David Eugene Perry / Palm Springs Cultural Center / 7–9:30 pm

Pride on the Page 2023 and the Palm Springs Public Library Foundation presents Armistead Maupin in conversation with David Eugene Perry.

Armistead Maupin, whose Tales of the City novels and TV series have made the author one of the world’s most important and best known gay literary voices, will appear as a special guest at this year’s 2nd Annual Pride on the Page Book Festival (www.prideonthepage.org). The on-stage discussion with local writer David Eugene Perry will benefit the Palm Springs Library Foundation. United Airlines, a longtime ally of the LGBTQ community is sponsoring the appearance with additional support from El Mirasol Guest House and Visit Palm Springs.

Following his time on stage Mr. Maupin will be available to autograph books. The Best Bookstore of Palm Springs will have a selection of titles available for purchase at the event.

Two ticket types are available: General Admission ($65) and VIP ($95) which includes a pre-event reception (6pm) with Armistead Maupin, a copy of his book Logical Family and preferred VIP seating. Proceeds to support the Palm Springs Public Library Foundation.

The special event with Maupin kicks off the 2nd Annual Pride on the Page Book Festival that will be on Saturday, October 14 (10am - 5:30pm). The FREE full day festival will take place at the Palm Springs Cultural Center historic Camelot Theatre (2300 Baristo Road, Palm Springs) and feature ten panels of 35+ LGBTQ+ and affirming authors and their books in lively discussion. There will be special opening and closing speakers, books for sale and autograph opportunties with your favorite authors and much more, see the full schedule online (www.prideonthepage.org).

There will be a FREE full day festival from 10am – 5:30pm.  The Festival will present ten panels of LGBTQ+ and affirming authors and allies in conversation about their books in dynamic discussions.

There will be something for everyone at the Second Annual Pride on the Page Book Festival presented by the Palm Springs Public Library Foundation and the Palm Springs Public Library. In addition, other sponsors include the City of Palm Springs, Palm Springs Cultural Center, The Best Bookstore in Palm Springs (the official book seller at the events), United Airlines, David Perry Communications, El Mirasol Villas Resort, KGAY Radio, CV Independent, and The Standard.

Christian Cooper in conversation with Lorenzo Taylor - Central park birdwatcher, comics writer, television host, science editor and proud Blerd (Black nerd) discusses his book “Better Living Through Birding: Notes from a Black Man in the Natural World.”

A.M. Homes in conversation with Jim Holmes - Winner of the prestigious Orange/Women’s Prize for Fiction discusses her new novel “The Unfolding.”
