A special screening of the acclaimed documentary celebrating Palm Springs' most influential designer
If you missed it during Modernism Week, here is your second chance to experience one of the most talked-about new documentaries celebrating Palm Springs' design legacy.
Arthur Elrod was as charismatic as he was visionary. Known for creating interiors that perfectly complemented the bold midcentury modern architecture rising across the Coachella Valley, Elrod helped define what is now recognized worldwide as "desert modern" style. His own residenceโperched high above the city on Southridge Driveโbecame an architectural icon and was famously featured in the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever, cementing his place in design and pop culture history.
Directed by author and design expert Adele Cygelman and shot by cinematographer Alan Kraemer, the 90-minute documentary explores Elrod's groundbreaking work and the personal story behind itโincluding a life and career tragically cut short. Through interviews with family, clients, and colleagues, the film paints a vivid portrait of a creative force whose influence still shapes Palm Springs today.
Following the screening, audiences are invited to stay for a live panel and Q&A with the filmmakers.
