Equality California, the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization, announced Thursday the endorsement of Christy Holstege and Lisa Middleton for reelection to the Palm Springs City Council, Districts 4 and 5, respectively. Both Holstege, who is bisexual, and Middleton, who is lesbian and transgender, are seeking three-year terms in their first district-based elections since the 2018 decision to reformat the City of Palm Springs elections.

Equality California released the following statement from Executive Director Rick Chavez Zbur:

“Christy Holstege is a longtime friend of Equality California and a lifelong champion for our LGBTQ+ community. She has embodied the progressive leadership that the voters of Palm Springs have come to expect and we look forward to working hard to ensure her reelection this November.

“There is perhaps no better advocate for Palm Springs’ elders, LGBTQ+ community and all residents than Lisa Middleton. As a trailblazing, transgender leader, Lisa has fought for the ‘gay agenda,’ like repairing potholes, balancing the budget, fighting for our seniors and fairly drawing the city’s district map. Lisa Middleton gets the job done and we couldn’t be prouder to support her reelection campaign.”
