DiversityDHS to Present Gift Checks to Desert Hot Springs Student Groups in Appreciation of Volunteer Hours

DiversityDHS/Your LGBT Connection in Desert Hot Springs will present gift checks to student groups on May 7, 2019 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Carl May Community Center in advance of the Desert Hot Springs City Council meeting.

In attendance will be Desert Hot Springs Mayor Scott Matas, City Council Members Russell Betts, Anayeli Zavala, Jan Pye, Gary Gardner, Desert Hot Springs High School Principal Caroline Cota, and numerous other city officials. State, county, and local elected officials are also invited.

Our monetary gift to each of the following student groups is in appreciation of their volunteer work at the 2018 Desert Hot Springs Pride Festival:

  1. Interact, the Rotary Club of Desert Hot Springs High School
  2. Gay Straight Alliance of Desert Hot Springs High School
  3. Volleyball Team of Desert Hot Springs High School
  4. Desert Hot Springs Scouts of America

In addition, a donation will be presented to the Safe Schools Desert Cities in support of their Teen Suicide Prevention Program.

For those who may not be aware, the Carl May Community Center is located at 11711 West Drive in Desert Hot Springs just north of Pierson Blvd. and across the walkway from the Desert Hot Springs Public Library.
