You’ll be faced with a lot of choices at Tonga Hut. This Sister to the North Hollywood Tiki bar is now open in downtown Palm Springs. The Tonga Hut has more complicated drinks with kooky names than you ever thought existed, but if you somehow thumb through the menu and aren’t satisfied, some of the bartenders are willing to mix you up their own original creations and of course the classic Mai Tai is always available.
Food served is Polynesian-Hawaiian fusion. Pu-Pu platters consisting of an assortment of small meat and seafood appetizers are available with egg rolls, spare ribs, chicken and beef skewers, crab rangoon, coconut shrimp and huli chicken accompanied by a small hibachi grill. Pineapple fried rice served in a pineapple add to the ambiance and flair and goes well with as sweet and sour pork and orange chicken.
